The deer season

The live season is five months, November 1 to March 31. Season 2 starts November 1, 2026. It is the cold half of a whitetail’s year, and the half this camera covers.

On this cam. Each season is its own stretch of days. The herd may include new faces, and maybe a familiar one. No deer is promised back. Outside those months the 24/7 feed is dark. Past visits stay on the channel.

November

The cam opens as the breeding season is peaking in northern country. Bucks move. Does are cautious and in demand. The winter coat is already on. Leaves are down or going down. Nights are long, and the trough starts to matter.

December and January

The rush of the rut eases. Deer spend more of the short day conserving heat. They bed in cover and feed when the cost is worth it. Snow changes the picture. Tracks show who came through, and the trough is a reliable patch of oats in a lean month.

Antlers start to drop in these months for some bucks, and later for others. There is no single shed day.

February and March

Late winter is the tightest stretch. Fat stored in autumn is thinning. Browse is scarce. A stocked trough is a blunt advantage, which is why the herd keeps the habit.

March lengthens the light. The season closes on March 31. Spring fawns and velvet antlers belong to the months this cam does not cover.
